Our community is filled with all kinds of amazing people! This week, we chatted with Linda-Denise, a dancer and yoga veteran.

How long have you been practicing Bikram Yoga?

Since 2001, so 19 years now! I’m a dancer, so I heard about bikram yoga from my colleagues. They said, “You should try it; it helps to build up your endurance and strength.” I’ve loved it from the first time.

How long have you been a member of Bikram Yoga Works studio? What made you join?

It’s been a year and a half. I’m a member of the Mount Vernon, Baltimore location. I LOVE IT THERE! I love the entire community and the sense of inclusivity!

What I really love is that it seems like Kendra and the teachers really care about how we feel — the people who practice there?
They are always asking what we want and need. They’re always inquiring and trying to better our experience.

You mentioned you love the virtual studio even more. Why is that? What has your experience been?

Virtual yoga has saved my life – it’s saving my life right now. I’m an anxious person. I can get high strung. My body is aging and going through arthritis and dealing with some issues. If I couldn’t practice, I don’t know how I would be right now. There’s such a wide variety of classes available virtually, which is great due to my schedule. If I have to work in the morning, I can take a class in the evening.

I have practiced every day since March 24th! I’m almost at a 90 day completion challenge! I have practiced more during the quarantine than before. I feel like I need it because everything is so intense and unsure in this world, but yoga isn’t. I know I can breathe and get that consistency. I’ve tried Drip’t and Flex’t. I wouldn’t have had the opportunity while working. It’s brought me calm and stability.

What’s the most challenging part of working out from home?

My Phone, kids, the dogs, and everything else going on. These are distractions that you don’t get in the hot room because you have to leave everything outside of the hot room.

What’s your favorite pose?

I don’t have a favorite pose! They are all challenging!

What’s the most challenging pose?

Half-moon — I don’t like it! It’s the first thing we do and it’s the hardest for me.

Any final thoughts you’d like to share?

I want to thank Kendra and the whole Bikram Yoga Works community for not missing a beat with transitioning, so we can stay healthy.
